Lawmakers rejected the proposal, allowing the president to continue military operations involving U.S. forces without immediate authorization from Congress. Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) shared his reaction to reporters.   "We're not at war, we have no intention, we have no intention at being at war. The president and the Department of Defense have made it very clear, this is a limited operation."   Speaker Johnson defended the ongoing U.S. military force, saying the mission is focused on eliminating  ballistic missile program and preventing further production.   "We're taking down Iran's ballistic missile capability, its stock pile and its ability to produce more. They were doing that at a scale and a speed that was more than our regional allies that could keep up with."   "It was a serious and imminent threat to the United States."
