"It may be tempting for some to compromise with power…Reverend Jesse Louis Jackson inspires us to take a harder path. His voice calls on each of us to be heralds of change."   Rev. Jackson died in February at age 84. Though unsuccessful, his two campaigns for the presidency, in 1984 and 1988, brought civil rights activism and left-wing opposition to the Reagan administration into mainstream politics.
